About the Role
Laufer is seeking a detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to join our Customs Brokerage team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and processing U.S. Customs entries, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, and delivering exceptional service to our import customers. You'll collaborate with clients, government agencies, ocean carriers, and internal teams to ensure shipments clear customs accurately and efficiently.

What You'll Do
- Prepare, review, and process customs entries for assigned import shipments in compliance with CBP and Partner Government Agency (PGA) regulations.
- Manage the end-to-end customs clearance process for both Laufer-routed and non-Laufer-routed shipments.
- File Importer Security Filings (ISF) accurately and within required regulatory deadlines.
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, and shipping documentation for accuracy and customs compliance.
- Classify imported products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and maintain customer product classification databases.
- Monitor shipment status, communicate proactively with customers, and provide updates regarding documentation, exams, holds, and clearance requirements.
- Coordinate with CBP, Partner Government Agencies, steamship lines, freight forwarders, terminals, and carriers to resolve clearance issues.
- Arrange freight releases and final delivery for non-Laufer shipments when required.
- Process and monitor Post Summary Corrections (PSC) and other post-entry activities.
- Maintain accurate records while ensuring timely and compliant customs transactions.
- Stay current on customs regulations, trade compliance requirements, and industry best practices through ongoing training.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of 1 year of Customs Brokerage or Customs Entry experience.
- Working knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements.
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) designation preferred, but not required.
- Experience preparing customs entries and Importer Security Filings (ISF).
- Familiarity with HTS classification, import documentation, and customs compliance processes.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and customs brokerage software.

Salary Range: $50,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience.
